After four years spent in the kitchen, cooking, baking, recipe testing, writing and rewriting (did I mention the weight gain?), my cookbook has finally been published! Since the world of food television doesn’t know who I am, I went the route of an independent author and published “COOKING: IT AIN’T ROCKET SCIENCE” myself on Amazon. There were tears in my eyes when I saw it for the first time as an Amazon listing!
The world of publishing a book by yourself is not the world of advertising and marketing that I spent so many years perfecting. But I found a wonderful group of like-minded authors led by a woman who really knows her stuff: SassyZenGirl.com Gundi Gabrielle’s facebook group is truly supportive, offers advice every step of the way, and Gundi’s advice WORKS!
But back to me…. since my cookbook netted out to over 500 pages, Gundi recommended I break it up into several books. So my first Series is Baking: Desserts, Pastry and Bread. And if you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll recognize that I love desserts, pastry and bread! Next up: Starters, Mains and Sides.
I’ve also revamped my website: jannseal.com creating an author site for my writing. Another bit of Gundi advice. And through my forays into internet book research and discovering KDSPY and its author Wesley Atkins, he created the site that was perfect for my message.
To say that my head is spinning with new information, much of which is still to be digested, is actually enlightening and exciting. But I haven’t deserted the kitchen through all of this. In fact, a strawberry meringue roulade is sitting in the refrigerator, oatmeal raisin cookies are on the counter for my grandchildren, and my daughter taught me a wonderful way to reverse-sear a steak. That’ll be my next post!
Thank you for sticking by me through the draught of posting while my efforts concentrated on the book. And if ever the independent author bug hits you, I’m here to help.
I’m so darn proud and happy for you. An amazing accomplishment that has been brewing for years. I m happy to have been one of your lab rats.
